From The Principals Desk
September, 2023
The first week of school is behind us. Labor Day Weekend has passed. The school year is now in full swing and it’s been a great start. The last thing on our list for the new school year is to greet our pre –k students next week and welcome them as they begin their educational journey.
With that said I have a couple things to share so that everyone can be on the same
page:
Students should arrive no earlier than 7:45 in the morning as there is no supervision available prior to that time. Our day officially begins at 8:15 am and any students coming after that time are considered tardy and must be signed in by the adult dropping them off. We ask all parents/guardians who bring their children to school to go no further than the lobby to see their children off. If there is a need to speak with a teacher one may stop at the office and leave a note and said teacher will be in contact ASAP. We do this for safety and organizational reasons. Thanks for helping us keep our students safe!!
In looking at our 2023-2024 school calendar you may have noticed a number of early release days. The purpose of these early release days is to create more professional
development opportunities for teachers. Our end of day procedures are the same as any other day but parent pick-up begins at 12:00 on those days. We have already had an early release day last Friday and we will have one more this month on the 27 th. Our 1st and 2nd graders will be attending a performance at Lakewood Theater again this month on Tuesday the 26th. Straw into Gold will begin at 9:30. Students will return to school by 11:00. Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday the 28th th and we expect students to come to school that day wearing their biggest and brightest smiles (with or without all their teeth). So as we embark on a new school year I would suggest to all parents to do so with eyes and ears wide-open. Take time to see how your child grows as a student. Hear what they have to say about their school experience. Share and embrace this very important time of their life with them.
In closing please feel free to call me anytime with any questions, thoughts or concerns.
Have a Great School Year!!
Respectfully,
Scott Mitchell
